Class Policies and Procedures
UGA Student Honor Code: "I will be academically honest in all of my academic work and will not tolerate academic dishonesty of others." A Culture of Honesty, the University's policy, and procedures for handling cases of suspected dishonesty can be found on the Academic Honesty website: https://honesty.uga.edu
Persons with Disabilities: Students with disabilities who require reasonable accommodations in order to participate in course activities or meet course requirements should contact the instructor. The Disability Resource Center may be contacted at drc@uga.edu.
Mandatory Reporting: UGA students working in schools are considered “mandatory reporters” under state law. This means that you are required by law to report suspected child abuse (for instance, if a student tells you about abuse or you suspect it based on a student’s physical appearance or behavior). If you suspect child abuse, you must report this immediately to the school principal/site director, your UGA instructor, the UGA Police at 706-542-2200, and the Department of Children and Family Services at 1-855-GACHILD.
Face Coverings and Social Distancing: Current UGA guidance on coronavirus protections and procedures for classes is available on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response page (https://coronavirus.uga.edu/). At present, social distancing and masking are not permitted to be enforced in classrooms by UGA faculty. Your instructors in my courses will be wearing masks in an abundance of caution, and we encourage you to do the same.
Other COVID procedures and precautions are listed below:
Reasonable accommodations may be made for those who are unable to attend class in this uncertain environemtns for documented health reasons. Students who learn they have been directly exposed to COVID-19 but are not showing symptoms should self-quarantine for 5 days consistent with Department of Public Health (DPH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Please correspond with your instructor via email, with a cc: to Student Care & Outreach at sco@uga.edu, to coordinate continuing your coursework while self-quarantined. If you develop symptoms, you should contact the University Health Center to make an appointment to be tested.
Students who are demonstrating symptoms of COVID-19 should call the University Health Center. UHC is offering testing by appointment for students; appointments may be booked by calling 706-542-1162.
